Not many of us like the feeling we get when our clothes get all soaked while walking in the rain and not many- especially men- love to keep the hand suspended as we carry the umbrella in the rain- in fact some detest having to carry an umbrella. So, could these have been some of Charles Macintosh’s musings before he invented the RAIN COAT far back in 1823…? One may never know but one is that the RAINCOAT has been of an immeasurable benefit during the rainy season- and before you get carried away by the name: the RAIN COAT is not just for the rainy season alone as some professionals like hunters, fishermen, shooters…use a form of RAINCOAT in their daily routine. They are usually made from rubber, nylon, rayon, polyester, wool, cotton, vinyl and some are lined with fur.
There are different types and styles of RAIN COAT: there are those with hood and the ones having no hood at all; also there are sleeveless ones; some can come with buttons, zipper, belts and they also vary in length but one thing that is synonymous to all is their waterproof property. And for those who might not like the conventional RAIN COAT [probably because of weight it adds], the ‘Cagoule’, which is a lightweight waterproof garment should be right for you.
Furthermore, gone are the days of having some boorish garment on just to keep you from getting wet; you be in the rain and still be in style with some designer RAINCOAT on.
